The Catholic Refugee Sponsors’ Council was founded with the vision of providing a national Catholic voice to respond to the needs of the world’s refugees for resettlement. We intend to be a centre for coordination, providing assistance and information for Catholic refugee sponsoring organizations. Canadian Catholic organizations are the largest sponsoring groups for refugees. As an example, we have our success in sponsoring Iraqi Christians over the past 5 years.

The Catholic Church in Canada has done much but the need is very great and we have the capacity to do much more.

With one voice we are the hope

OBJECTIVES/GOALS

1. Liaising and consulting with Catholic refugee sponsoring organizations.

2. Collaborating with other refugee assistance and resettlement organizations national and international such as Citizenship and Immigration Canada, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People etc.

3. Assisting and helping refugees by defining and bringing forth issues, concerns and problems to the Federal Government and proactively putting forth policy and process recommendations.

4. Providing a clearing house for news, information, resources and education to Catholic sponsoring groups.

Your membership fees will help us to continue this vitally important work of aiding in the resettlement of the persecuted from around the world. Membership fees are $10 for individuals and $25 for corporate members.
